Dr Kidd has treated me since 2013 for neurosarcoidosis (NS). He is not only an exceptional neurologist; He studied MS, vasculitis. NS and Behçet's disease and published NS research - he's a wonderful caring human being. Dr Kidd has studied this rare disease since about 1997 and is the UK expert in this form of sarcoidosis, understanding all this elusive disease manifestations - a real "sarcoidologist". He listens intently and takes time to consider and fully reply to questions. His quiet demeanour may hide the depth of his knowledge but his empathy establishes immediate trust in him. You know he'll do everything possible to resolve your issues. As a rare condition (which is often difficult to diagnose and treat and mimics other inflammatory diseases) neurosarcoid isn't recognised or fully understood by many neurologists or radiologists. This makes Dr Kidd an essential source of expertise for patients who have (or suspect they have) neurosarcoidosis. Many have been told by highly respected neurologists that they don't have this manifestation of sarcoid, unfortunately due to their doctor's lack of knowledge so are left to deteriorate for years. By the time Dr Kidd sees them, patients may be permanently damaged so can feel angry and neglected. He restores our faith in dedicated doctors. I had been treated for years by an eminent MS doctor but although I appreciated him treating me, the disease was not under control and he just seem to accept that for years. Dr Kidd understood that if I flared so often, I needed a different medication, where my local consultant didn't feel the need to change it. You can't blame experts in other conditions, when they don't quite know the answers to a rare condition. But it's hard for those and for their well-meaning doctors who aren't aware of such an elusive and diverse disease so I'm immensely grateful for Dr Kidd. He's a real credit to the NHS.

I have been a patient of Dr Kidd for the past 2 years. He is top of his field, extremelly knowledgable, works both in supporting patients, as well as directly in research, including in my rare condition, and is clearly still interested in continuing to learn more about this condition to be able to improve the situation of his patients. He is exceptional. He is exceptional because not only is he clearly super competent, but he is also a genuinely kind and committed human being, who clearly wants to improve the lives of his patients and believes they are all entitled to good health and a good quality of life. I can ask him any question and he always answers honestly, clearly and respectfully, including about what he knows and medicine knows and what is not yet known about my condition. He is patient and listens and has a lovely personality so puts you at ease. I trust him completely. Anyone who has him as their consultant will be very lucky.
